"Enhancing the socioeconomic potential of American Indians & Native Hawaiians through job training and education."
The Indian Training & Education Center (ITEC) is a federally funded Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) program, supported by the Division of Indian and Native American Programs within the U.S. Department of Labor. This program is designed to enhance employment and training opportunities for American Indian, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian individuals. It aims to fully develop the academic, occupational, and literacy skills necessary to compete in today’s workforce, while providing services that reflect the goals and values of the communities we serve.
Eligibility for ITEC includes being a Utah resident, 14 years of age or older, and identifying as American Indian, Alaska Native, or Native Hawaiian (tribal enrollment is not required). Applicants must be unemployed, underemployed, or low-income, and able to complete a training program or degree within 12 months or be in their final 2–3 consecutive semesters. High school students may participate throughout all four years and may begin in any grade at any time during the school year.
